VERY EXCITED to be releasing my first solo LP , MoonLanding , on March 18th, 2022
Backstory — In September of 2019, I contacted Robert Harrison , to begin recording a collection of a few of my original songs - We began initial songwriting and pre-production sessions in November 2019, chose 4 songs to start with, and began recording in mid December 2019 - Ed Jarusinsky tracked the drums, and I played all the other instruments.
We were working on completing the first 4 songs, tracking every week and rolling along quite nicely, and began talking about choosing the next 4 - that all had to stop in mid March 2020 to go into the quarantine period, where it seems that all music shut down, as well as my recordings with Robert and Ed
At that point, I decided to finish completion of the tracks at my home studio - with the purchase of some mics and studio gear, I was able to finish tracking on the first 4 songs and send the finished tracks to Robert for mixing.
Once the initial 4 songs were tracked and mixed, I started to see the potential for a full album - a collection of songs that tells a story of pre-Covid and 2020-2021 experiences. I took extensive time to properly sound-treat my studio, and get proper studio gear - I started doing live stream shows in April 2020, and got the chance to play these songs live. I got a lot of positive reaction from everyone, and that gave me motivation to finish up some new songs and keep "dreaming on these songs" as Robert Harrison would often tell me!
Over the bulk of 2020 and into 2021, I finished tracking all of the songs, playing all the instruments myself - I recruited some special guests to send me tracks on some songs - (My uncle John Hedger sent me some lead guitar tracks to put on a song , and Robert Harrison added some keys on a track) - Then, I edited everything down, and sent all tracks to Robert Harrison for production help and mixing -
We began sending mixes to Lars Goransson for mastering, and the final LP began to come into focus - While trying to not rush things , but all the while keeping a deadline in mind , the full LP was, finally, done by November 2021
My eternal gratitude to Robert Harrison for inspiration and patience - Ed Jarusinsky, Lars Goransson, my uncle John Hedger (for buying me my first guitar and for playing sweet lead guitar on “Isolation”). Thanks to everyone in the Song Game over the last 2 years , got a few keepers out of it! - also thanks to James Stevens at EAR studios for a piano session before I had my own piano , thanks to my bro Cory Glaeser for letting me borrow his sweet Hofner bass - and thanks to Mike Castoro and the amazing team at Wunder Audio for studio help - shout out to Kyle Crusham for endless texts and help with studio setup , big thanks to Johnnie Goudie for help with “how do I release a record?” , Paul English for studio gear repairs
- BIG thanks to Sarah Rucker for putting up with endless months of guitar and drum noise from the studio !
I hope this LP gets a lot of digital spins on your device ! It was fun fun fun (and hard!) to make
